Weddings at Lisnavagh

We are taking bookings for 2025 and beyond.

Lisnavagh is a large 19th century Tudor Gothic Revival Country House and the seat of the McClintock Bunbury family who have lived here for 11 generations. The house is set within acres of parkland in County Carlow. It is a beautiful and enchanting sanctuary for wedding parties, whatever the season.

Settling into Lisnavagh on the eve of a wedding gives family and close friends an invaluable opportunity to savour the moment as you stroll around gardens worthy of a Jane Austen novel and enjoy evening drinks by the fire in the historic oak-panelled library, followed by a delicious, pre wedding dinner catered for by our in house team using locally sourced and homegrown ingredients. Lisnavagh house can sleep 14 guests in indvidually styled bedrooms and for the wider party over the weekend, a further 25 or more guests between the converted Courtyard Stables and Bothy Cottage.

The Ceremony Space

Licensed for civil ceremonies, we offer two intimate and unique ceremony spaces, The Yew Walk and The Brick Barn, both within walking distance of the house.

Both places have a curiously exotic ambience with close proximity of lush vegetation, mature leafy trees and birdsong.

The Wedding Party

The Wedding Party

Following the ceremony, soak up the parkland vista of our natural countryside and distant mountain views whilst sipping champagne and mingling with friends and family on the lawns surrounding Lisnavagh House.

Dancing then kicks off in the majestic Garden Wing with a maximum capacity of 160 guests seated.

Lisnavagh is a place that invites you to linger. You may wish to continue celebrating the day after the wedding, with a family brunch perhaps, or a barbecue on the lawn, along with games, such as archery or croquet which can be arranged.

Prior to, and during, your stay, our experienced and discerning wedding coordinator can guide you on Lisnavagh 's own recommended wedding team, from florists to caterers to music, so that you can relax and prepare for a weekend of magical merriment.

Dinner in the Garden Wing

Constructed with red bricks that were baked on the Lisnavagh estate over 160 years ago, with a dash of modern ingenuity, the brick-fronted reservoir now serves as a charming location for the exchange of vows. Light floods into the circular structure between the twelve-foot high walls and the conical roof, which is shaped almost like a traditional Vietnamese rice hat.

What our clients say

"My husband and I were married November 12, 2022 at Lisnavagh House and it was an experience we will never forget. Emily and William were wonderful hosts, so helpful throughout our entire wedding planning process. From the ceremony and reception spaces, to the guest rentals and sleeping quarters, photography, food, makeup and hair artists, we couldn’t have asked for a more perfect venue.

When we arrived we were greeted into the home by Emily, whom we had been consulting with during the planning process. The house is AMAZING. If you are looking for the perfect cozy, historical, unique wedding venue this is IT.

Our guests were wowed with the house and grounds. Most stayed in the stables courtyard which is conveniently located near the garden wing, where we had our reception. They would describe the stables as perfect for couples, rustic, comfortable and convenient. Other guests opted to rent cottages on the property, which was great for housing families or bigger groups traveling together. The grounds themselves are stunning! We’ve never seen anything like it. Our friends and family were able to walk the grounds and check out the real Irish countryside. So many good photo opportunities!

The interior of the house is phenomenal. Each room is different, beautiful, and unique in its own way. We were lucky enough to stay in the Oak room which has THE most comfortable 4 poster bed, and boasts a giant bathtub- epsom salt provided! It felt like being in a spa. And it was marvellous for taking photos of the bridal party getting ready for the big day!

Lisnavagh House was able to provide us with information from catering to music and decor, all of which made our day so special.

The Brick Barn where we held the ceremony was ethereal. Between the decor and the space itself, it was exactly what we had envisioned. The Garden wing was also beautiful, big with plenty of light, offering many options for decor.

All in all it was a 10/10 for us. Thank you so much to Emily and William for being so accommodating and making our wedding weekend so special!"

Lisnavagh is honestly the most beautiful wedding venue and our guests are still speaking about how wonderful it all was.It was a tough time with all the rescheduling and at times we weren’t sure what the best thing to do was but I’m so happy we decided to hold out and have the wedding of our dreams. You, William and every person we interacted with on the weekend were just amazing! You made me, Gavin and all our guests feel so welcome and at home. It’s truly a magical place."

"We had the most wonderful weekend at Lisnavagh House on the occasion of my daughter Clares wedding to Matthew. Everything was perfect, the house, the grounds and the exceptional hospitality. Clare grew up in the UK with Irish roots and really wanted to find a venue that reflected that, and she did. Some of Matt and Clare's friends had never visited Ireland before and they all said how much they loved it along with the opportunity to all stay together in one place.I would like to say a special thank you to Ann & Brid for their patience and friendliness as we popped in and out of the kitchen to borrow scissors etc the morning of the wedding. Breakfast was just fabulous. Anns scones were the best we have ever tasted. I will have to go and practice a bit more!Thank you all for everything, and not forgetting Niamh who throughout the year has met Clares every enquiry with a “Yes”. We couldn't have wished for a better weekend. We hope to revisit Lisnavagh"

We really loved our ceremony space, the brick barn despite the chaos of Storm Ophelia!!A huge thank you to the kitchen and bar staff who went above and beyond expectations. We will definitely be back! Lots of love xxx"
