A bit about Deirdre Desmond:
Deirdre is a dedicated Yoga Teacher with 18 years’ experience and a Somatic Educator, lifelong student and collaborator. She brings an inquiry-based technique rooted in Body-Mind Centering® to her teaching, ensuring each individual works within their own comfort range and ability while building a deeper, more intuitive connection to their body.
She has studied with pioneering teachers including Bonnie Bainbridge Cohen and trained and instructed with international teachers Donna Farhi and Lisa Peterson. Deirdre is committed to helping others find ease and balance through their whole self. As a Hanna Somatic Exercise Coach and Trainee Teacher, Deirdre guides clients to realign their bodies, to release unconscious physical tension and rediscover freedom in movement; approaching her work as an explorer and guide navigating others towards a deeper self-awareness.
Deirdre believes that Somatics are a powerful and authentic practice for releasing long held tension and changing old habits that no longer support us. “Through somatic training I have learnt an embodied way of approaching traditional yoga practice which is very individual and takes no force and yet still manages to inspire strength. Learning to slow down I am more aware of my movements, my transitions and my presence. It is not a quick fix, it is a cumulative, gentle, kind approach that has brought lasting changes to my body, my interaction with others and the world around me”
