"Our wedding in March 2008
was a truly international affair. We had family and friends from Ireland
and New Zealand and a few from London where we live thrown in for
the mix! Everything about the weekend, because that it is what it
became with so many travelling from afar, was really magical. Lisnavagh
House became ‘ours’ from Friday and remained so until
the Sunday night.
The night before the wedding became a girl’s night in with last
minute flower arranging and a final wine tasting around the kitchen
table with the range keeping us warm.
After a massive breakfast on the Saturday morning prepared for us
by the lovely and long-standing staff of Lisnavagh we began the task
of hairdressing and make-up. The corridors and rooms were full of
people preparing for our special day ahead and the hum of activity
floating up the stairs all added to the excitement of the morning.
After a wonderful ceremony in nearby Rathvilly we returned to Lisnavagh
to carry on our celebrations. The beautiful grounds and interior of
the house itself provided a stunning backdrop to our wedding photographs.
One of our favourite memories of the day was being snapped sipping
bubbly upstairs while we listened to our guests down below chatting
and laughing as they warmed up in front of the roaring fires.
Walking into the library for dinner to see our friends and family
for the first time as a married couple is something we will never
forget. The library was the most perfect room and helped create an
intimate atmosphere that lasted well into the early hours.
Organising our wedding from abroad could have been a daunting task
but Emily and her team made the whole experience hassle free. Nothing
was a problem and we always felt that the final decisions were completely
ours to make.
We feel that Lisnavagh House played a very big part in making our
wedding day so special and we thank Emily and all at Lisnavagh for
looking after us so well."
